Five East Jakarta Markets Pass Food Safety Inspection

The East Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency inspected food products at five traditional markets, with test results showing no hazardous substances in any of the items sold by vendors.

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head Taufik Yulianto said the inspection involved around 20 personnel from various agencies as part of efforts to prevent the distribution of food containing harmful chemicals.

"A total of 48 samples were collected from five traditional markets, comprising 38 agricultural products and 10 livestock products," he said on Thursday (7/2).

Taufik explained that all samples were tested using two mobile laboratories stationed at Enjo Market in Pisangan Timur Urban Village.

"The test results showed that all samples were free of hazardous chemicals. This means the food products and processed food items sold at the markets are safe for consumption," he said.

According to Taufik, the inspection covered a range of products, including vegetables, chicken, and beef. The samples were tested for pesticide residues, formaldehyde, chlorine, and Eber to detect signs of disease in meat.

"The inspections were carried out at Enjo Market, Cakung Market, Ujung Menteng Market, Pulogadung Market, and Cipinang Muara Market," he noted.

He added that the inspections are conducted regularly to ensure food products sold by vendors remain safe for consumers.

"By ensuring food quality, we hope to strengthen public confidence in the products sold by vendors," he pointed.
